Meet Scott Murphy

Raised in rural Nova Scotia, Scott Murphy grew up among the rolling hills and farmland of the Truro area before moving to Halifax after high school. His interest in the mortgage process began over 15 years ago when he purchased his first rental properties. Those experiences — paired with his competitive nature and practical business sense — shaped his approach to negotiations, always aiming for the best outcome with two priorities in mind: practicality and affordability.

Scott’s professional foundation was built during his decorated career in the Royal Canadian Navy, where he served both at sea and ashore. As a tactical operator in the ship’s operations room, he used sophisticated surveillance equipment to gather and analyze information, providing vital insights for decision-making and maintaining operational readiness. His service included a demanding seven-month tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan, as part of the multinational Command Joint Task Force 10, focused on improving the lives of the local Afghan population.

Today, Scott blends modern business training with an old-school work ethic — believing in building relationships the traditional way: earning them. Outside of work, he’s a proud father of three adult children and grandfather to two. Scott can often be found at the rink, where he has volunteered as a minor hockey coach in Lower Sackville for 16 seasons.
