Meet Matthew Ettinger

Most mortgage brokers don’t start their careers milking cows at sunrise, dodging slapshots, or rebuilding duplexes in the cold. But Matthew Ettinger isn’t most brokers. His path has taken him from a dairy farm in Kingston to Jr. A hockey in California to leading finance teams in the automotive world — and every step added a piece to the way he helps clients today: straightforward communication, practical problem-solving, and showing up for people when it matters.

Before moving into mortgages, Matthew spent nearly a decade in automotive finance, eventually managing both sales and finance departments. He became known for breaking down big financial decisions in a way that made sense to people — earning national customer satisfaction recognition with Mazda Canada and placing in the top five nationally for multiple years.

Matthew’s drive to become a mortgage broker grew out of two very personal experiences. Years of rebuilding duplexes in the harsh Nova Scotia winters taught him the value of doing a job right, while navigating his own home refinancing showed him how difficult the process can be when you don't have the right professionals on your side. Rather than shrug off the frustration, he decided to become the kind of person he wished he’d had in his corner.

He believes it’s a wonderful thing to have a home where long-lasting memories and family traditions can take root — and that’s what he hopes to help his clients build. Matthew and his wife Marley run RE/GENERATE Day Spa together, and his ties to the Annapolis Valley Chapter of Autism Nova Scotia run deep. Supporting his sister with autism has shaped the way he approaches people: with patience, respect, and zero judgment.

When he’s not helping clients, Matthew is happiest outdoors: hunting, fishing, golfing, riding trails, playing hockey, or coaching whenever he can. And while he’s no longer in automotive finance, the philosophy remains the same: different keys, same goals — helping people open new doors.
